stp-bpdu tx-filter

Suppresses transmission of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) on an interface while still allowing the interface to receive and process BPDUs for supported STP modes, such as Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP).

Usage Guidelines

This command suppresses outbound STP BPDU transmission on a per‑port basis. When configured for an interface, the device stops transmitting STP BPDUs on that interface while continuing to forward data traffic normally. This command applies only to BPDU transmission and does not change the handling of received BPDUs.

If you are upgrading a device with existing RSTP Edge port settings, this command is not enabled by default. You can enable it manually.

Ensure that the 802.1w port parameters are not configured on a point‑to‑point link for all VLANs. For more information, refer to the spanning-tree 802-1w command.

The configuration is saved in the running configuration and is restored after a system reload.

Examples

The following example enables the STP BPDU TX Filter to suppress BPDU transmission for the Ethernet interface.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1
device(config-if-e1000-1/1/1)# stp-bpdu tx-filter 
Info: STP BPDU TX filter enabled on port 1/1/1.

The following example removes BPDU transmit suppression for an Ethernet interface.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1
device(config-if-e1000-1/1/1)# no stp-bpdu tx-filter
