default-ip-address enable

To obtain IP addresses, enable this command and start the DHCP client feature on the management and default VE interfaces. If no DHCP or static IP is available, the switch assigns default dynamic IPs on the management port and the default VE interface. The default dynamic IPs allow direct login to the switch WebUI without CLI access.

Default IPs are removed when a static IP or when a DHCP-assigned IP is configured on a specific interface. If no static or DHCP IP is configured, default IPs remain active for WebUI or CLI access. Default IPs are assigned only on the management port and default VE interface. They are not advertised to neighbors via LLDP.

When the DHCP client is disabled globally, any existing default IP addresses are removed from the management and default VE interfaces. If the DHCP client is enabled on a non-default VE interface using the ip dhcp-client ve vlan-num command, a default IP is assigned to management interface only if no static IPs are configured on any interface. A default IP is assigned to the default VE interface only when the dhcp client is globally enabled and also configured on default VE interface. When the DHCP client is re-enabled, the default IPs are automatically reassigned if no other IPs exist on those interfaces. After a reload operation using the write-memory and reload commands, the default IPs are restored on the management and default VE interfaces only if no other IP addresses have been configured.

On factory-fresh AV Pro switches, this command is enabled by default, and default IPs are automatically assigned to provide out-of-box access through the WebUI or CLI. When disabling the web management, the default-ip-address enable feature will be disabled automatically.

The no form of the command removes default IP addresses on management and default VE interfaces.
