nslookup

Resolve the domain name to an IP address by querying the DNS server.
Syntax
nslookup domain-name
Parameters
domain-name
Specifies the name of the host IP address.
Modes

User EXEC mode

Privileged EXEC mode

Usage Guidelines

Configure the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the DNS server using the command ip dns-server before using the nslookup command. This command lists only one IPv6 address and up to 25 IPv4 addresses depending on the number of IP address resolved by the server.

Examples

The following example shows the IPv4 and IPv6 information about the specified domain name.

device# nslookup www.gmail.com
Sending DNS Query to 8.8.8.8
Name : www.gmail.com
Address : 142.250.205.229
Sending DNS Query to 8.8.8.8
IPv6 Address : 2404:6800:4007:82d::2005
