Global configuration mode
The erase system
factory-default command resets the switch to its original state and
boots from the currently installed UFI image in the primary partition.
Autocomplete is disabled for this command. You
must manually key in erase
system factory-default. To prevent accidental execution of this
command there are two levels of acceptance required from you. First, a warning
message is displayed asking you for confirmation. Upon confirmation, a detailed
warning message is displayed, prompting you about various files which may be erased
upon executing the command. The factory reset action is triggered when you accept
the warning. The switch will then detect the factory reset action and start
performing the following actions:
- If an external USB is plugged in, the software unmounts it.
- System is set to the same state as shipping out of the factory by performing the following:
- The system will auto reboot
- The switch boots up with factory default settings. The SAU license is restored to the original license info present in the original SKU info.
For the ICX 8200 devices running
FastIron release 10.0.00 or later, and the ICX 8100
devices running FastIron release 10.0.10f or later, the erase system factory-default
golden command resets the switch and installs the Golden image from
the /golden_image partition into both the primary and secondary partitions before
booting from the primary partition.
Note: A Golden image must be available in the
/golden_image partition. Enter the show flash command
to confirm whether the golden image partition is empty or contains a UFI file.
If no UFI file is found, then refer to the RUCKUS FastIron Software Upgrade Guide for instructions to download
and install the Golden image file.
This command is not supported with stacking. If stacking is enabled when this command is executed, a message will appear.

The following example erases the system settings and restores factory default settings.
