flexlink preemption mode

Configures the preemption scheme to specify the preferred Flexlink interface for forwarding traffic.
Syntax
flexlink preemption mode [ forced | bandwidth | off ]
no flexlink preemption mode [ forced | bandwidth ]
Command Default

The default preemption mode is off.

Parameters
forced
Specifies to provide precedence to the configured active link and always preempt the backup link.
bandwidth
Specifies to preempt the Flexlink interface with lesser bandwidth and choose the interface with higher bandwidth as the active link.
off
No preemption will take place. When active link fails, the backup interface will take over and forward the traffic.

Usage Guidelines

The forced and bandwidth preemption modes work in conjunction with the preemption delay value (if configured).

The preemption mode cannot be unconfigured if the preemption delay is configured to a non-default value.

The no form of the command is applicable only to the forced and bandwidth preemption modes.

The no form of the command unconfigures the preemption mode and resets the Flexlink interface pair to the default preemption mode (off).

Examples

The following example sets the configured active link to always preempt the backup link.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/9
device(config-if-e1000-1/1/9)# flexlink preemption mode forced
