monitor-profile (ERSPAN)

Creates an Encapsulated Remote Switched Port Analyzer (ERSPAN) profile and assigns it a profile number.
Syntax
monitor-profile profile-number type erspan
no monitor-profile profile-number
Command Default

ERSPAN is not configured.

Parameters
profile-number
Specifies the profile number to configure. If the profile is new, assigns this number to the profile. Valid values are from 1 through 4.
type erspan
Specifies the type of profile. The only supported profile is erspan.

Usage Guidelines

After the monitor-profile command is entered, you must configure the source and destination IP addresses. The source IP can be any port on the router. The destination IP is the port on the destination host.

ERSPAN is not supported for RUCKUS ICX 7150, ICX 7150-ES, and ICX 8100 devices.

The no form of the command deletes the ERSPAN profile.

Examples

The following example configures an ERSPAN profile. This profile sends mirrored traffic from a port on switch 2.2.2.2 to the host 1.1.1.1. 

device# configure terminal
device(config)# monitor-profile 1 type erspan
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# source-ip 2.2.2.2
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# destination-ip 1.1.1.1
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# exit

The following example modifies the destination host in an ERSPAN profile. 

device# configure terminal
device(config)# monitor-profile 1 type erspan
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# no destination-ip 1.1.1.1
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# destination-ip 3.3.3.3
device(config-monitor-profile 1)# exit

The following example deletes an ERSPAN profile. 

device# configure terminal
device(config)# no monitor-profile 1
