Deploying Additional Member Access Points

Deploying additional member APs is simply a matter of connecting them by way of Ethernet to the same Layer 2 network and providing power. The additional member APs discover the Master AP and join automatically. No additional steps are necessary.

A second AP and any additional APs that join the RUCKUS Unleashed network automatically assume the role of "member AP." Thereafter, if the Master AP goes offline, one of the member APs becomes the new Master and assumes control of the network.

Note: When a member AP joins the Master for the first time, but is running a different firmware version than the Master AP, the member AP automatically downloads and upgrades (or downgrades) to the correct firmware version to match the Master AP. After the matching firmware is running, the member AP reboots and rejoins the network.
