`rd` (VNI)

Configures a route distinguisher (RD) for a Virtual Network Identifier (VNI) for a Layer 2 Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) instance.

Syntax

rd { loopback-ip:vlan_id | auto }

no rd { loopback-ip:vlan_id | auto }

Command Default

A RD is not configured for the VNI.

Parameters

loopback-ip:vlan_id: Specifies that RDs are configured manually in looback IP:vlanID format.
auto: Specifies that RDs are configured automatically.

Modes

EVPN EVI configuration mode

Usage Guidelines

This command is supported for RUCKUS ICX 7850 and ICX 7550 devices only.

The no form of the command removes the configured RD and policies for configuring RDs.

Examples

The following example enables the auto-generation of an RD for an EVPN instance.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# evpn-instance 1 vlan-based
device(config-evpn-evi)# rd auto

The following example configures a specific RD for an EVPN instance.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# evpn-instance 1 vlan-based
device(config-evpn-evi)# rd 1.1.1.1:38
