mac duplication limit

Suppresses processing and advertisement of Type-2 routes related to MAC addresses that have moved more than the configured number of times in the Layer 2 Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) instance.
Syntax
mac duplication limit host-moves expiry-time timeout [ advertise ]
no mac duplication limit host-moves expiry-time timeout [ advertise ]
Command Default

When MAC duplication limit is not configured for a Layer 2 EVPN instance, then continuous, prolonged MAC moves between access ports and tunnel ports, and between different tunnel ports, result in multiple withdrawals and re-advertisements.

Parameters
host-moves
Specifies the maximum number of MAC moves allowed before timer expiry. Valid values range from 1 through 1000 moves.
expiry-time timeout
Specifies the MAC duplicate detection timeout interval. Valid values range from 2 through 36000 seconds.
advertise
Specifies that MAC moves are re-advertised after the suppression time.
Modes

EVPN EVI configuration mode

Usage Guidelines

When a MAC moves, BGP starts an expiry timer. If the number of MAC moves reaches the configured threshold limit before the timer expires, then BGP alerts the user and stops advertising and processing of Type-2 routes related to the MAC.

This command is supported for RUCKUS ICX 7850 and ICX 7550 devices only.

The no form of the command removes the configured values for duplicate detection for MAC addresses for a VNI for a Layer 2 EVPN instance.

Examples

The following example enables duplicate detection for MAC addresses for a Layer 2 EVPN instance and specifies that the maximum number of MAC moves allowed before timer expiry is 150 and that the MAC duplicate detection timeout interval is 1200 seconds.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# evpn-instance 1 vlan-based
device(config-evpn-evi)# mac duplication limit 150 expiry time 1200
