ip multicast mvr

Enables Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) on the device.
Syntax
ip multicast mvr
ip multicast mvr mvlan mvlan-id group mvr-grp-addr [ count value | to mvr-grp-addr ]

no ip multicast mvr mvlan mvlan-id group mvr-grp-addr [ count value | to mvr-grp-addr ]
Command Default

MVR is not enabled by default.

Parameters
mvlan mvlan-id
Specifies to configure other options for MVLAN in which multicast data is received; all source ports must belong to this VLAN. Valid values range from 1 through 4095.
group mvr-grp-addr
Configures MVR groups by assigning a range of multicast group addresses to the MVLAN. The maximum number of MVLANs supported is 10, with up to 100 MVLAN-to-group configurations.
count value
Configures a continuous series of MVR groups by specifying the number of groups to be assigned to the MVLAN.
to mvr-grp-addr
Specifies the range of the continuous series of MVR groups by specifying the end IP address of the MVR group.

Usage Guidelines

This command is required to enable MVR on the device. This command is required to configure any of the other MVR commands.

Disabling this command removes all other MVR configurations.

The global MVR configuration does not enable MVR on the VLAN. To enable MVR on the VLAN, you must use the multicast mvr command in VLAN configuration mode.

By default, an MVR group is associated with an incoming VLAN and goes through normal snooping. The group option allows you to selectively associate sets of groups to the MVLAN, thereby enabling it to go through the MVR module. You can associate unique group sets to different MVLANs and, therefore, create multiple MVLANs in the system.

A group address can be mapped to a single MVLAN only.

By default, all groups are treated as snooping groups. To enable MVR for specified groups, use the ip multicast mvr mvlan command.

On ICX 8100 devices, MVR processes IGMPv3 join messages on receiver VLANs only if IGMPv3 is enabled globally using the ip igmp version 3 command.

The no form of the command removes all MVR configurations. To disable MVR on a specific VLAN, you must remove the MVR (source or receiver) configuration from the VLAN.

Examples

The following example configures MVR globally and assigns a group to the MVLAN. 

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ip multicast mvr
device(config)# ip multicast mvr mvlan 1 group 225.0.0.1

The following example configures MVR globally and assigns a continuous series of MVR groups by specifying the number of groups to be assigned to the specified MVLAN. 

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ip multicast mvr
device(config)# ip multicast mvr mvlan 1 group 226.0.0.1 count 100

The following example configures MVR globally and assigns a continuous series of MVR groups by specifying the end IP address of the MVR group.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ip multicast mvr
device(config)# ip multicast mvr mvlan 200 group 238.1.1.1 to 238.1.1.5
