ZTP Overview

Zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) is supported in FastIron 08.0.50 and later and allows you to deploy new devices in the network automatically, without manual intervention. Deploying a Campus Fabric (802.1BR SPX) network manually is a complicated process that requires considerable effort when a CB system with many PEs is deployed. Customers must prepare each PE. ZTP greatly simplifies the deployment process.

You can run either the zero-touch utility or the SPX interactive-setup utility to provision PEs. SPX interactive-setup is designed for users dealing with sophisticated deployment scenarios that cannot be handled directly by the zero-touch utility. SPX interactive-setup allows users to handle some invalid topologies, assign specific unit IDs, and select PE units. SPX interactive-setup also allows you to change PE IDs interactively without detaching cables or shutting down units.
