Debugging PE Ring Failures
SPX (PE) Ring Is Not in the Active State
Enter the
show spx ring all command to confirm that the PE ring is not in the Active state. In the following
example, the PE ring is in the break state.
ICX7750-48F Router# show spx ring all ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ring Id |FSM State |CB port Lag |Remote CB port Lag |Log Block Link ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 BREAK 2/1/9 3075 1/1/5 3079 Ring is broken - No Logical Block
Enter the show interface brief Ethernetx/x/x command to check that the link status is UP.
Enter the
show spxcommand to verify that PEs are in the Ready state.Enter the
show cpu-utilizationcommand to verify that CPU use is not high.If the user is unable to debug further, use the
supportsave spxcommand to collect data.
The logical block is placed on the SPX link that comes up last during PE ring formation. The logical block may move automatically when a link flap occurs in an active PE ring. For example, if the logical block is between PE 20 and PE 21 and the link between PE 18 and PE 19 flaps, the logical block moves between PE 18 and PE 19.
In the following example, the logical block moves from the PE 20-PE 21 link to the PE 17-PE 18 link.
The following output shows that the PE ring is active and that the logical block is present between PE 20 and PE 21.

The logical block has moved between PE 17 and PE 18.
If the logical block moves, a minor traffic drop is expected. The PE ring should still be in the Active state. Use the PE ring
showcommands to verify the PE ring state.
