Performing Administrative Tasks
In this section:
- User AccountAn admin account with all the privileges (Super Admin role) is created with default credentials during set up. The default admin user can add more user accounts to delegate administration and management tasks to other users.
- Managing System SettingsComplete the following steps to change the default settings.
- Monitoring Admin ActivitiesAdministration actions executed by the users are logged and can be tracked.
- Alarms and NotificationsAlarm serves as a mechanism to monitor the status of the system associated with events that range from errors, connection failures, exceptions and so on. Alarm configuration can be enabled on predefined set of events. If any of the alarm-enabled events occur in the system, an alarm is triggered. A threshold can be set for AP license usage, hardware events, and AP events; and when the usage breaches the defined threshold, an alarm is triggered. You can also enable email notification or SNMP notification to notify the user whenever an alarm is triggered.
- Managing Application LogsEvents that are logged by the application can be downloaded for debugging and troubleshooting purposes. AP discovery log, web log, logs of periodic sync up process such as cluster syncing, license syncing, Backup system syncing, and periodic SZ configuration backup and ND configuration backup processes are the application logs that are available for download. The log files are automatically rotated every 15 minutes to avoid the older log files taking up too much of the disk space.

- Upgrading the RUCKUS Network Director Version
- License Information and Synchronization
- Monitoring the ClusterIndividual node details or pair of nodes that form the cluster for High Availability that are configured while setting up a RUCKUS Network Director instance can be viewed. RUCKUS Network Director offers a comprehensive High Availability solution (DB replication) with near real-time database sync-up between RND nodes. High Availability clusters are used for failover, load balancing, and backup purposes.
- Geo RedundancyRUCKUS Network Director (RND) supports Geo Redundancy that enhances network resilience by enabling operational clusters to synchronize with geo-redundant clusters in geographically separated data centers.
- BackupRUCKUS Network Director offers a comprehensive Backup solution (DB replication) with near real-time database sync up between ND instances. This ensures the uptime of ND by replicating the data to another RND instance with config sync up (auto and manual), including all configurations, registration rules, stats, logs, and so on.
