AP Registration Rules
APs can be preconfigured and redirected to
the SZ cluster and zone in RUCKUS Network Director. Though RUCKUS Network Director provides the option to import all the associated APs while adding
the cluster, APs can be provisioned separately by configuring the following AP registration
rules to redirect the APs to the SZ cluster:
Note: The registration rules defined in and the target SZ must not be in conflict.
Otherwise, the system may not function as expected.
- AP registration by AP model: Allows you to add APs by their model for AP discovery. During AP discovery, if RUCKUS Network Director finds a matching AP model defined in the rules, the AP will be redirected to the specified SZ cluster and zone.
- AP
registration by IP/Subnet mask: Allows you to add an IP address range
using subnet for AP discovery. During AP discovery, if RUCKUS Network Director finds a matching IP address in one of the
subnets defined in the rules, the AP will be redirected to the specified SZ
cluster and zone.
- AP registration by IP/Subnet mask and AP model: Allows you to add a combination of IP address range using subnet and one or more AP models for AP discovery. During AP discovery, if RUCKUS Network Director finds a match that satisfies both criteria (matching IP address on subnet and AP model) defined in the registration rule, the AP will be redirected to the specified SZ cluster and zone.
- AP registration by AP serial number: Allows you to add APs based on the serial number for AP discovery. During AP discovery, if RUCKUS Network Director finds a matching AP serial number defined in the rules, the AP will be redirected to the specified SZ cluster and zone.
- Default Registration Rule: The Default Registration Rule supports nested configurations, enabling you to define rules based on AP models, IP address ranges (subnets), or combination of both. If the AP matches with the criteria defined in the registration rule, it will be redirected to the specified SZ cluster and zone.
