Global Configurations

Global configuration allows you to configure the symmetrical flow control (SFC), flow control (IEEE 802.3x), and spanning tree at the global level.

Complete the following steps to configure global configurations.

  1. From the main menu, select Device.

    Configuring Device: Global Configurations

  2. In the Global Configurations tab you can perform the following actions:
    1. For Host name, configure the host name for the device.
    2. For Symmetric Flow Control, select one of the following options from the list to configure symmetric flow control:
      • enable: Enables SFC globally for priorities from 0 through 4 by default and optionally for all priorities from 0 through 7.
      • all-priorities: Specifies SFC on all priorities. If you do not specify this option, SFC is enabled only on priorities from 0 through 4.
      • None: Disables all SFC configurations.
    3. For Flow Control, select one of the following options from the list to configure flow control:
      • both: Configures flow control in PAUSE generation and honoring mode.
      • generate-only: Configures flow control in PAUSE generation mode only.
      • honor-only: Configures flow control in PAUSE honoring mode only.
      • neg-on: Enable flow control with negotiation.
      • disable: Disables flow control configurations.
    4. For Spanning Tree, select one of the following options from the list to configure the spanning tree cost calculation method:
      • single: Enable single spanning tree. Single is a short method that is backward-compatible but less accurate in modern hardware.
      • path-cost-method: Configures spanning tree path cost method.
  3. Click Apply to save and apply the Global Configurations settings.
