Limiting the Number of APs in a Domain or Zone
You can limit the number of access points (APs) in a Partner-Managed Domain or a system zone. A Managed Service Provider (MSP) may have multiple customers, each with a dedicated zone and a specific number of APs. This feature prevents customers from oversubscribing their entitled license capacity. A regular domain does not support this option. When an AP joins a zone that has an AP number limit applied, the controller checks the current capacity against the zone limit and performs one of the following actions:
- Allows the AP to join if the number of connected APs is within the limit.
- Denies the AP if the domain or zone has no remaining capacity.
A scheduler task runs periodically in the background to compare the AP number limit with the number of connected APs. To prevent license capacity from being occupied unnecessarily, the controller rejects APs in the following situations:
