Enabling Switch Breakout Ports

This task guides you through enabling breakout ports on supported RUCKUS ICX switches to prepare them for individual configuration and management. RUCKUS ICX switch models 7550 and 7850 support port breakout.
Prerequisites: Before enabling breakout on a RUCKUS ICX 7550 switch, use the switch CLI Session function in the GUI to configure the slot 2 uplink by entering the appropriate command (slot 2 uplink-40g or slot 2 uplink-100g), followed by the write memory and the reload commands to apply the uplink configuration.

Follow the steps below to enable breakout ports on supported ICX switches.

    The Switches window is displayed.
  2. Select a switch.
  3. In the Details area, click the Ports tab.

The breakout ports are displayed using four-tuple notation to clearly indicate the division of the high-bandwidth port into multiple lower-bandwidth sub-ports. The x/x/x:x syntax indicates the unit number, slot number, port number, and sub-port number on the device.

You can also view the status of the port breakout configuration by clicking the Configuration tab and viewing the information provided in the Configuration History section.
