Access Point and Zone Configuration Options
Zone-level configuration settings can
be overridden at the AP Group or individual AP level. Refer to the configuration tables
to
understand available options and override capabilities across all levels.
In this section:
- General OptionsAP general options include basic AP settings for the zone, such as AP location and time zone, SSH access, IP mode, and country code. Some of these options can be overridden at the AP Group or individual AP levels.
- Mesh OptionsThe Mesh capabilities must be enabled on a per-zone basis. Individual APs can be configured with a specific mesh mode, an automatically selected mesh mode, or with mesh mode disabled. After mesh is enabled in the zone, all the APs in the zone will be rebooted to inherit this configuration and, by default, all the APs are set to Auto mode.
- Band Combination Options
- Band/Spectrum ConfigurationThis section provides granular control on a per-radio-band basis (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz). Specific options available for each of the radio bands are displayed according to the selected tab.
- AP GRE Tunnel OptionsThe AP GRE tunnel provides an encryption tunnel between the APs and the Data Plane when tunneled WLANs are configured on the AP or on a group of APs. The primary purpose of tunneled WLANs is to encrypt the wireless client's traffic to ensure data protection as it travels through the wired network. You can select the GRE tunnel profiles to be used in the zone.
- Syslog OptionsSyslog options are disabled by default, you can toggle the switch to ON to enable the external syslog server options for the APs within this zone. The external, third-party syslog server you configure will receive and store the syslog messages received from the APs. This is useful for monitoring and diagnostics.
- AP SNMP OptionsSimple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol used for monitoring and managing network devices, such as access points (APs). It allows you to remotely gather information about the status, performance, and health of network devices, as well as configure and control them.
- Cellular OptionsCellular Options configuration is available only when creating or editing an AP Group.
- Advanced OptionsAdvanced options provide you with the ability to fine-tune features that enhance network performance based on different variables such as RF management, security, traffic and client balancing, and client connection settings. The following chart explains which of these options are available in the Create Zone or Edit Zone pages, Edit AP Group page, or at the individual AP configuration.
