logging-rate-limit

Configures the rate limit of syslog messages generated by the device, helping to manage logging output in environments where excessive logs may occur.
Syntax
logging-rate-limit number
Parameters
number
Specifies a value from 0 to 300 logs per second.
Modes

Global Configuration mode

Usage Guidelines

If the number of syslog messages generated exceeds the configured rate, excess messages are dropped.

Disabling rate limiting (logging-rate-limit 0) may result in high CPU usage and syslog task instability, especially in scaled setups.

The no form of the command disables the configured rate limit of syslog messages.

Examples

The following example configures the limit of syslog messages to 100 per second.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# logging-rate-limit 100
