rmon event

Defines the action to be taken when an alarm is reported and collects and stores reported events for retrieval by an Remote Monitoring (RMON) application.
Syntax
rmon event event-entry description event-description { { execute batch_id | log-and-execute batch_id | log-trap-and-execute community_string batch_id | trap-and-execute community_string batch_id } [ argument string ] | log | trap community_string | log-and-trap community_string } owner event-owner

Command Default

An RMON event is not configured.

Parameters
event-entry
Specifies the event number.
description event-description
Configures the event description.
execute batch_id
Executes listed batch command arguments in CLI privilege mode and stores related output in the log file when the event fires.
log-and-execute batch_id
Generates an RMON log and execute batch command when the event fires.
log-trap-and-execute community_string batch_id
Generates an RMON log and SNMP trap and executes a batch command when the event fires.
trap-and-execute community_string batch_id
Generates an SNMP trap and executes a batch command when the event fires.
argument string
Specifies the batch command argument. ASCII string in the format "cmd1;cmd2;cmd3".
log
Generates an RMON log that is included in the show rmon log command output when the event fires.
trap community_string
Generates an SNMP trap when the event fires.
log-and-trap community_string
Generates an RMON log and SNMP trap when the event fires.
owner event-owner
Specifies the batch command owner.

Usage Guidelines

The no form of the command removes the configured RMON event.

There are two elements to the Event Group: the event control table and the event log table. The event control table defines the action to be taken when an alarm is reported. Defined events can be found by entering the CLI command show event. The event log table collects and stores reported events for retrieval by an RMON application.

Use the following command to display output from command execution that has been stored in the log:

device# show log debug management rmond_event all
