Zero Touch Mesh: Enabling this feature allows newly onboarded APs to join the Mesh network without previously connecting the AP to an Ethernet uplink. APs will be able to discover the mesh network over the 5/6 GHz or 2.4 GHz bands and will be pending manual approval by the Administrator before they can join the mesh network.
Mesh Name (ESSID) and Mesh Passphrase: This information is used by mesh APs to form and maintain the mesh links of the mesh topology for this zone. The system will automatically generate these values.
Mesh Radio Option: Select the radio band that will be used for the Mesh topology. The APs will still broadcast the access SSIDs in all radios as configured. Additionally, the Mesh SSID will be broadcasted in the selected radio band. Select the Mesh Radio Option between 2.4GHz or 5GHz/6GHz.
Mesh Mode: (Only available at the AP level) Using this setting, you can manually set a fixed mesh mode for an AP. By default, this option is set to Auto when a new mesh zone is created. Select any of the available options:
- Auto (Mesh role is assigned automatically)
- Root AP (Only runs as a root AP)
- Mesh AP (Only runs as a mesh AP)
- Disable
Auto and Mesh AP modes offer additional options for Uplink Selection. Choose between Smart (Mesh APs automatically select the best uplink) and Manual (Only selected APs can be used for uplink). For manually selecting the uplink AP, toggle to ON the Uplinks switch next to the desired uplink AP.
- Note:
- When you click the Disable mesh mode option, a pop-up confirmation message will remind you that disabling mesh in the AP may cause the AP to become unreachable. This could happen if the AP in question is not connected to the wired network, or the wired network does not have a route to its default gateway. Click Yes to acknowledge and continue.
- Disabling the mesh functionality on the AP will cause the AP to reboot.
