AP Provisioning and Swapping
In this section:
- Working with AP Registration RulesRegistration rules enable the controller to assign an AP to an AP zone automatically based on the rule that the AP matches.
- Creating an AP Registration RuleYou must create rules to register an AP.
- Configuring Registration Rule PrioritiesThe controller applies registration rules in the same order as they appear in the AP Registration Rules table (highest to lowest priority).
- Creating an AP MAC OUI AddressAP MAC OUI validation is a security feature that allows you control which APs can join the network. When an AP attempts to join the controller, its MAC address is checked against a list of allowed Organizational Unique Identifiers (OUIs). If the AP's MAC address matches an OUI on the list, it is allowed to join the network. If not, the join request is rejected, and an event is generated to indicate the behavior. This feature is particularly useful for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) who purchase large batches of APs with the same OUI. By enabling AP MAC OUI validation, they can ensure that only their authorized APs can connect to the SmartZone-managed network. To create the MAC OUI address for an AP, perform the following -
- Setting a Global Country CodeDifferent countries follow different regulations for radio channel usage.
- Configuring the Tunnel UDP PortThe tunnel UDP port is used by all GRE+UDP type tunnels.
- Provisioning and Swapping Access PointsThe controller supports the provisioning and swapping of access points.
- Options for Provisioning and Swapping APsThe controller supports the provisioning and swapping of access points.
- Approving Access PointsAPs must be approved to join the system. The APs can be approved either automatically or manually. Once you have created registration rules and the AP zones to which joining access points can be assigned automatically, access points will be able to join or register with the controller automatically.
- Approving Mesh APs5.0 UpdateYou can approve mesh APs that join the network using wireless connection.
- Viewing Mesh APsMesh APs are wireless access points. They provide consistent transmission of data, any failures do not disrupt the data transmision.
