AP Firmware Version
Access Points maintain their own firmware version separate from the controller’s version. Each Zone can use a distinct firmware version. This facilitates AP version management, allowing you to group legacy APs within a Zone with the latest supported firmware for those APs, or a technology zone with the newest firmware for the latest features and security enhancements that only the most modern APs can run.
For any firmware that you want to operate the access points with, the controller will keep a copy. You can upload AP firmware to the controller and subsequently apply it to the Zone that you want.
When Zones are created, an AP firmware version must be selected from the available versions in the controller. Once the Zone has been created, the firmware version you selected cannot be downgraded. Subsequent upgrades or downgrades can be performed through the regular AP upgrade procedures.
