Configuring Virtual Machines

Complete the following steps to configure a virtual machine (VM).

  1. From the main menu, select Admin > Settings, and then click the VM Configuration tab.

  2. Configure the basic settings.
    1. In the Hostname field, enter the host name.
    2. In the Timezone list, select the time zone.
  3. Configure the network IP settings.
    1. Select DHCP or Static IP as the IP assignment method. If Static IP is selected, then configure the remaining fields as described.
    2. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address of the virtual machine.
    3. In the Netmask field, enter the subnet mask.
    4. In the Gateway field, enter the default gateway address.
    5. In the DNS Server field, enter the Domain Name System (DNS) server address.
    6. In the Secondary DNS Server field, enter the optional backup DNS server address if the primary one is unavailable.
  4. Configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
    1. In the NTP Address field, enter the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server for synchronizing the system clock.
  5. Click Save Configuration.
  6. (Optional) Add a certificate from a reputable Certificate Authority (CA) for enhanced security.

    Note: The RUCKUS IoT Controller is configured with a self-signed certificate by default.

    1. In the Certificate Management section, upload the CA certificate.
    2. Click Upload certificate & Key.
    3. (Optional) Click Download CA certificate to retain a local copy of the certificate.
