Creating a Two-unit ICX 7850 Stack with a Linear-topology Trunk Using Stack Interactive-setup

Complete the following steps to use stack interactive-setup to create a two-unit ICX 7850 stack with a linear-topology trunk.
  1. In global configuration mode on the unit that will server as the active controller, enter the stack enable command to enable stacking.
    ICX7850-32Q Router# configure terminal
    ICX7850-32Q Router(config)# stack enable
Enable stacking. This unit actively participates in stacking
    ICX7850-32Q Router(config)# end

  2. On the active controller, enter the stack interactive-setup command. When prompted to select an option, select 2 if the new unit is a clean unit to discover and convert new units to stack members. To keep the proposed configuration, enter y when prompted.
Note: If you attempt to run stack interactive-setup immediately after enabling stacking, the following message may be displayed: T=3m37.8: Some ports are in HighGig mode. Please try again in 30 seconds.
In the following example, all eight ports (1/3/1 to 1/3/8) are connected to the peer unit.
    ICX7850-32Q Router# stack interactive-setup
You can abort stack interactive-setup at any stage by <ctrl-c>
    0: quit
    1: change stack unit IDs
2: discover and convert new units (no startup-config flash) to members
3: discover and convert existing/new standalone units to members
2&3 can also find new links and auto-trunk or convert chain(s) to ring.
    Please type your selection: 2

    Discovered 1 chain/ring
Chain #0: Do you want to select this chain? (enter 'y' or 'n'): y

  3. Press Enter to accept the default ID, or type an alternative ID.
In the following example, the user elected to use the default ID.
    1: icx7850-48fs-port d4c1.9e18.8dd9, type an ID (No: 0, default: 2):

    You selected 1 unit(s): #1: ID=2,

  4. If the topology qualifies as a linear-topology trunk, you are given the option of selecting the linear-topology chain (enter n) or a ring topology (enter y).
In the following example, a linear-topology trunk is selected.
There are total two units. The connections qualify a linear-topo that puts all discovered links to a trunk.
    Do you want a ring? (y: ring, n: linear-topo chain) (enter 'y' or 'n'): n

  5. When prompted to accept the topology, enter y (or type n to terminate the process).
Proceeding will produce the above topology. Do you accept it? (enter 'y' or 'n'): y
    stack interactive-setup discovers 1 unit(s) and sends stack-port/trunk to chain 0: linear-topo: 2/1 to 2/8

    stack-trunk 1/3/1 to 1/3/8 replaces stack-port 1/3/1 and stack-port 1/3/5

After you accept the topology, the second stack unit reloads, and stack formation is completed. You are prompted to enter the write memory command.
Configuration changed. Please do "write memory".
