Converting from Module 2 Data Uplink to Stacking Mode on an ICX 7550 Device
Note: ICX 7550 devices cannot operate in a stack when Module 2 is configured for data uplink.
Stacking election mechanisms and all stacking operations, including IPC communications,
are blocked in uplink mode.
Follow these steps to convert Module 2 of an ICX 7550 device from uplink to stacking mode.
- (Optional) Verify configuration.
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Enter the
no slot 2 uplink-100gcommand to restore the Module 2 default mode. - Enter the
write memorycommand to save the change. - (Optional) Check the resulting configuration.
The following example shows that the configured mode and the operational mode are different, indicating that the new configuration has not yet been reloaded.
ICX-7550# show stack ***** Warning! stack is not enabled. ***** T=13m35.8: alone: standalone, D: dynamic cfg, S: static ID Type Role Mac Address Pri State Comment 1 S ICX7550-48ZP alone 28b3.7129.8856 0 local None:0 +---+ 2/1| 1 |2/2 +---+ Current stack management MAC is 28b3.7129.8856 slot 2: config stack-40g/100g, oper uplink-100g - Reload the unit to put the mode change into effect.
After the reload, the unit is returned to default stacking mode. Stacking is not enabled.
- (Optional) Verify the final configuration.
The following example shows that the default 100-Gbps stacking mode has been restored. Stacking is not enabled.

The following example converts Module 2 on an ICX 7550 device from data uplink to default mode (stacking, with speed automatically determined from optics attached).
