Configuring BGP4+ peer groups
A peer group can be created and neighbor IPv6 addresses can be associated with the
peer group. The peer group is then activated in the IPv6 address family configuration
mode.
- Enter the
configure terminalcommand to access global configuration mode. - Enter the
router bgpcommand to enable BGP routing. - Enter the
local-ascommand to configure the autonomous system number (ASN) in which your device resides. - Enter the
neighbor peer-groupcommand to create a peer group. - Enter the
neighbor remote-ascommand, specifying a peer group, to specify the ASN of the peer group. - Enter the
neighbor peer-groupcommand to associate a neighbor with the peer group. - Enter the
neighbor peer-groupcommand to associate another neighbor with the peer group. - Enter the
address-family ipv6 unicastcommand to enter IPv6 address family configuration mode. - Enter the
neighbor activatecommand to establish an IPv6 BGP session with the peer group.
The following example creates a peer group, specifying two neighbors to belong to the peer group, and activates the peer group.
device# configure terminal device(config)# router bgp device(config-bgp-router)# local-as 1000 device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor mypeergroup1 peer-group device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor mypeergroup1 remote-as 11 device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor 2001:2018:8192::125 peer-group mypeergroup1 device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor 2001:2018:8192::124 peer-group mypeergroup1 device(config-bgp-router)# address-family ipv6 unicast device(config-bgp-ipv6u)# neighbor mypeergroup1 activate
