Changing the Maximum Number of ARP Table Entries

ARP table entries, including dynamic, static, and pending ARP entries, can be increased on a RUCKUS Layer 3 switch.

Note: Default and maximum ARP table entries differ based on the platform. Refer to the system-max ip-arp command in the RUCKUS FastIron Command Reference for more information.
Note: When the maximum number of ARP table entries is changed, the maximum number of IP cache entries is set to the same value.
  1. Enter global configuration mode.
    device# configure terminal
  2. Enter the following command and specify the maximum number of ARP table entries.
    device(config)# system-max ip-arp 32000
  3. Save the running configuration to the startup configuration file.
    device(config)# write memory
  4. Exit from global configuration mode.
    device(config)# end
  5. Reload the software after changing the ARP table size to place the change into effect.
    device(config)# reload

The following example configures the system max for ARP table entries.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# system-max ip-arp 32000
device(config)# write memory
device(config)# end
device# reload
