Viewing and Managing IoT Devices

After IoT devices are scanned and discovered, they are added to the controller. The Devices page offers a real-time inventory and health overview of all managed IoT devices, including connection status, associated devices, network metrics, and management actions.

At the top of the page, you will find quick overview tiles:

  • Devices Overview: Displays the number of devices meeting specific criteria. The tile cycles every five seconds through layers displaying the total number of radios devices, the total number of provisioned devices, and the total number of not-provisioned devices. You may also click on any of the layers to see that value immediately.
  • Device Types: Categorizes devices based on their functionality, such as Dimmable Light, On/Off Plug-in Unit, Extended Color Light, Others, and so on.

The main panel displays all the IoT devices. The table includes columns such as Status, Name, MAC ID, AP MAC, Protocols, Type, LQI, RSSI, and so on.

Complete the following steps to view and edit IoT device information and configurations.

  1. From the main menu, click Devices.
    The Devices page is displayed.

  2. (Optional) Customize the table display.
    1. Modify the order of rows displayed. Click on any column header to reorder the table rows in ascending or descending order based on that specific column’s values.
    2. Modify the number of rows displayed per page. The table defaults to displaying 10 rows of data. Below the table, you will find page display options:
      • The entries-per-page drop-down allows you to control how many rows of data are displayed per page (options include 10, 20, 50, and 100).
      • Arrow keys help you navigate between pages of data in the table when the table exceeds the entries-per-page setting.
Note: If the arrows are greyed out, it means you are already on the first or last page and cannot move further in that direction.
  3. (Optional) In the Actions column, click to blacklist the device and to remove the device from the RUCKUS IoT Controller.
  4. (Optional) Click the icon in any column header. A textbox appears. Enter a filter value (for example, filter by a specific Status, Name, MAC ID, and so on). The table will update to display only the devices that match your filter criteria.
  5. (Optional) Configure or modify a specific IoT device. Click on a specific device in the table list; the sidebar appears, displaying the basic device information. Click the icon to dismiss the sidebar without saving any changes.
  6. Click Pre-Approve IoT Devices to approve either a single device or multiple devices. For more information, refer to the topic Pre-Approving IoT Devices.
  7. (Optional) Filter the table content based on the level in the network hierarchy (from Entire Network down to one specific device).

The Network Hierarchy filter, displayed above the IoT Device's table, allows you to control or modify the scope of data displayed in the table. By default, the view is set to Entire Network, which consists of the full hierarchy containing all clusters, domains, groups, and devices. Use the drop-down list to select the specific portion of the network for which you want to display data, then click Apply.

The page refreshes, displaying only the IoT devices matching the filter criteria.

  8. (Optional) Click the icon to download the details of the listed IoT devices into a CSV file.
  9. (Optional) To perform additional actions, select one or more devices, or select the checkbox next to the Status column to select all devices. The toolbar displays the number of selected devices and the available option.
