ICX 8200 Configuration Notes

Keep the following points in mind when configuring ICX 8200 stack units.

  • Any ICX 8200 models can be linked to form a stack from Module 2.
  • ICX 8200 stacking links can have a speed of 10 Gbps or 25 Gbps.
  • Stacking cannot be enabled on an ICX 8200 device containing configuration for Module 2, including port speed. The configuration must be removed before stacking is enabled.
  • Unused stacking ports can be used as data ports. For example, you can elect to use only one valid-stack-port as a stacking port and the other valid-stack-port as a data port. Furthermore, when an ICX 8200 stacking module is not configured for stacking, its stacking ports can be used as data ports.
Add link to the related conversion section, once it has been added.
  • Only ports that are in sequential order can be configured as a stacking trunk.
  • To configure a stacking trunk manually on a stack unit, use the stack-trunk command. However, in a live production environment, use the multi-stack-trunk command.
  • In a stacking system with two directions, ICX 8200 stacks support a maximum of two ports per trunk in one direction. As an exception, a linear-topology trunk in a two-unit stack may contain up to four ports.
  • A configuration mismatch with the physical module installed as Module 2 can cause a stacking unit to become non-operational. The mismatch can be resolved by removing the unit from the stack so that the active controller relearns its configuration or by correcting module information.
  • ICX 8200-C08PF devices support 10-Gbps stacking only.
