Converting from Stacking to Data Uplink on ICX 7550 Module 2

Be sure port connections are correct before changing modes or speeds. Be sure local and remote ports operate in the same mode and at the same speed.

After reviewing the considerations in the previous section, complete the following steps to convert Module 2 on an ICX 7550 device from stacking mode to data uplink mode.

  1. (Optional) Verify the optics attached to the ICX 7550.
The following example shows that 100-Gbps optics have been installed on ports 1/2/1 and 1/2/2.
    ICX7-7550# show media e 1/2/1
    Port 1/2/1: Type : 100GBASE-SR4 100m (QSFP28)
                 Vendor: RUCKUS Version: A
                 Part# : 57-1000326-01 Serial#: YTA1162500000K3

    ICX-7550# show media e 1/2/2
    Port 1/2/2: Type : 100GBASE-SR4 100m (QSFP28)
                 Vendor: RUCKUS Version: A
                 Part# : 57-1000326-01 Serial#: YTF218340000A69

  2. (Optional) Enter the show stack command to check for active stack configuration.
The following show stack output indicates the configured mode and the operational mode for this ICX 7550 standalone are both 40-Gbps stacking (the default mode).
    ICX-7550# show stack

         +---+
Current stack management MAC is 0011.2233.4455
    slot 2: config = oper = stack-40G/100g
All UP stack ports operate at 40G

  3. If stacking configuration is present on the standalone device, enter the stack unconfigure all command and respond y when prompted to remove the stacking configuration.
    ICX-7550# stack unconfigure all

  4. Enter global configuration mode.
    ICX-7550# configure terminal
    ICX-7550(config)#
  5. Reconfigure Module 2 for 100-Gbps data uplink with the slot 2 uplink-100g command.
    ICX-7550(config)# slot 2 uplink-100g
Slot profile change requires write memory and reload to take effect.
Slot 2 will be operating in uplink mode with 100Gbps speed after reload.

  6. Save the configuration.
    ICX-7550(config)# exit
    ICX-7550# write memory

  7. (Optional) Verify the device configuration.
The following example indicates that Module 2 on the device has been configured for 100-Gbps data uplink, but the new configuration has not yet been reloaded.
    ICX-7550# show stack

    slot 2: config uplink-100g, oper stack-40g/100g
All UP stack ports operate at 100G

  8. Reload the device so that the new configuration takes effect.
    ICX-7550# reload

The device comes up in data uplink mode following the reload.
  9. (Optional) Verify the final configuration.
The following show stack output shows the standalone ICX 7550 device is configured for 100-Gbps data uplink and is also operating at 100-Gbps data uplink.
    ICX-7550# show stack
