Naming an IP static route
IPv4 static route names are optional and non-unique. You can give a group of static
routes the same name to help identify them.
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Enter the destination IP address and mask or prefix length followed by the IP address of the next hop. On the same command line, enter the keyword name followed by the identifying ASCII string.
The following example creates a static route to IP destination network addresses beginning with 10.22.22.22 through the next-hop address 10.1.1.1. The route is given the non-unique name "corporate."
device# configure terminal device(config)# ip route 10.22.22.22 255.255.255.0 10.1.1.1 name corporate
