To conserve IPv6 address space, a 127-bit subnet mask can be assigned to point-to-point networks. Support for an IPv6 address with a 127-bit subnet mask is described in RFC 6164.
A 127-bit subnet mask uses only two IPv6 addresses: all zero bits and all one bits in the host portion of the IP address. The two IPv6 addresses are usable, and are interpreted as host addresses.
127-bit subnet masks are only supported if IPv6 unicast routing is configured.
