NTP Server Start Delay

You can delay the NTP server response so that the synchronization time is not sent to NTP clients until the device has synchronized with an external NTP server. This can be used when an ICX switch is being used both as an NTP server, as well as a client. This should be done immediately after enabling NTP.
The following task enables the NTP client and server mode and delays the NTP server response.
  1. Enter global configuration mode.
    device# configure terminal
  2. Enable NTP.
    device(config)# ntp
  3. Delay the NTP server response.
    device(config-ntp)# delay-server

The following example enables the NTP client and server mode and delays the NTP server response so that the synchronization time is not sent to NTP clients until the device has synchronized with an external NTP server.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ntp
device(config-ntp)# delay-server
