Viewing and Downloading Logs

You can download the application logs to your local computer, either by request from RUCKUS Support for troubleshooting or on your own initiative to better understand your controller.
  1. From the controller GUI, select Monitor > Troubleshooting & Diagnostics > Application Logs.
The Application Logs screen is displayed.
  2. Select a control plane from the Select Control Plane drop-down list.
  3. Selecting the Control Plane

  4. Download all the logs for an application or download only the selected logs for an application according to the following instructions:
    • Download all logs for an application: Select the application and click Download Logs.
    • Download specific logs for an application: Click the number in the column # of Logs for the application of your interest to expand the list of available logs and click the file name to download it.
  5. Note: All applications are set to Warning as the default log level. If you need to collect logs in a different level, first change the log level and then replicate the issue you are troubleshooting. After replicating the issue, download the logs. Return the log level to the default setting when you are done.

    Downloading Specific Log Files

  6. Alternatively, download all logs available for the selected node, according to what is explained in Download Options.

    Download Options

    Options Description
Download Logs Downloads all logs for the selected application.
Download All Logs Downloads all available logs from the controller.

In your web browser's default download location, verify that the .tgz file was downloaded successfully. You must use your preferred compression/decompression program to extract the log files from the .tgz file. When the log files are extracted (for example, adminweb.log, cassandra.log, communicator.log, and so on), use a text editor to open and view the log contents.

Download Snapshot Logs Downloads snapshot logs that contain system and configuration information, such as the AP list, configurations settings, event list, communicator logs, SSH tunnel lists, and so on.

Downloading these logs may take a while. In your web browser's default download folder, verify that the snapshot log file or files have been downloaded successfully. Extract the contents of the .tar file.
