Replacing a Controller Node in a Single Node Cluster

This section describes how to replace a controller node in single node cluster. Ensure you have a configuration backup of the failed node and a new node device to serve as replacement.

Complete the following steps to replace the node within a single-node cluster:

  1. Wipeout upgrade the controller: The replacement node should have an empty configuration and it should be using exactly the same version of the existing configuration backup. For instructions on the wipeout upgrade process refer to Performing a Wipeout Upgrade for a Controller Node.
  2. Deploy the new node: In the Setup Wizard choose the option New Cluster, and continue through the installation wizard as usual for a new install. For step by step instructions, see the RUCKUS SmartZone Getting Started Guide.
  3. Restore the configuration backup file: Complete the following steps to restore the configuration backup in the newly deployed cluster:
    1. In the controller GUI, select Administration > Administration > Backup & Restore > Configuration.
    2. Click Upload and upload the configuration file accordingly. The newly uploaded file will be listed.
    3. Select the backup file and click Restore. Click Yes to continue. The controller will restore the configuration and restart the services.
