WLAN General Options
The General Options
section of the WLAN Configuration page is used to define key WLAN settings, such as
SSID
configuration, Zone, and WLAN Group. The following are conceptual descriptions of
these
fields.
- Name - Provide a
unique name for the WLAN. The AP will not broadcast this name to announce the
network, this name is only for administration purposes, however, you will notice the
SSID field will auto-populate with the same WLAN name you provided.
Note: You can modify the auto-populated SSID if you prefer the WLAN name to be different from the SSID.
- SSID - The AP will broadcast this name for the network devices to connect. You can assign the same SSID to different WLANs, but the WLAN names cannot be duplicated in a Zone. SSIDs are case-sensitive.
- Description - Provide a description of the WLAN if you consider it necessary.
- WLAN Group - Assign the WLAN to one or multiple groups. Use the drop-down list to check or uncheck the boxes corresponding to the WLAN groups you want to assign or unassign. Click the + icon to create a new WLAN group without leaving the Create WLAN page.
-
Network Segmentation - Enables this WLAN to be part of a network segmentation profile. When network segmentation is set to ON, authentication, encryption, and Data Plane options are set automatically and cannot be modified. For detailed information on how to manage network segmentation profiles and integrate them with an external DPSK server, refer to the Network Segmentation Guide.
