Creating a User Traffic Profile

Creating a User Traffic Profile involves defining rules and policies that classify, prioritize, and manage network traffic for different users or user groups.
Complete the following steps to create a UTP:
  1. Navigate to Security > Access Control > User Traffic Profile.
  2. Click +Create to create a new UTP.
This displays the Create User Traffic Profile window.
  3. Enter the Name and Description and complete the following sections:
    • Rate Limiting. Enable the toggles for Uplink and Downlink separately and enter the data rate limits in Mbps.
    • Traffic Access Control List. In the field Default Access select Allow or Block and create as many ACL rules as necessary by clicking + Create. For detailed instructions for creating ACL rules, refer to the Creating an L3 Access Control Policy.
    • Application Recognition and Control. Select from the list an Application Policy or click + to create a new one. For instructions on creating Application Policies refer to Creating an Application Control Policy.
    • URL Filtering Control. Select from the list an URL Filtering Profile or click + to create a new one. For instructions on creating an URL Filtering Profile, refer to Creating an URL Filtering Profile.
  4. Click OK to save the UTP.

To assign a UTP, bind it to a User Role and use one of the following methods to apply the User Role to a wireless client or user:

    • Create a User Role Mapping in the AAA Server configuration and map the User Role to an attribute provided by the Authentication Server.
    • Assign the User Role to DPSKs that you generate. Any user using these DPSKs to access the network will be assigned with the UTP.
Note: For instructions about creating a User Role, as well as User Role Mappings in the AAA server configuration and generating DPSKs, refer to Users and Roles.
