OSPFv3 Authentication
OSFPv3 can be configured to authenticate packets using one of the following authentication
methods:
- Authentication trailer
Authentication trailer allows authentication of OSPFv3 packets using Hashed Message Authentication Code-Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (HMAC-SHA-1) or Hashed Message Authentication Code-Secure Hash Algorithm 256 (HMAC-SHA-256)
- IP Security (IPsec)
IPsec secures OSPFv3 communications using ESP only in transport mode, by authenticating each IP packet using SHA-1 of a communication session.
Note: ESP can support encryption, but FastIron
currently supports only authentication.
Note: OSPFv3 packets are not authenticated by default. You must configure OSPFv3 authentication
as required.
OSPFv3 authentication can be enabled on each interface, virtual link, or area.
