Naming a Stack Unit
You can assign names to stack units to help identify them. Stack unit names can be
up to 63 characters long. A stack unit name must start with an alpha character and
must not contain spaces.
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Enter the
stack unitcommand followed by the number of the stack unit you want to name.The device enters stack unit configuration mode. - Enter the
unit-namecommand followed by the name that you want to represent the unit in configuration output.The example assigns the name operations to stack unit 1. - (Optional) Repeat steps 3 and 4. You can repeat this step as many times as needed.
The example enters stack unit configuration mode for unit 2 and assigns the name engineering to the unit.
- When you are finished naming units, enter the
write memorycommand in Privileged Exec mode to save the configuration.
The following example assigns names to the members of a three-unit stack, based on the building they support.
