Global configuration mode
Interface configuration mode
When Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) is enabled, the system continuously monitors the temperature and signal power levels of the optical transceivers. If the optical operating conditions fall below or exceed the manufacturer-recommended thresholds for QSFP28, QSFP+, SFP28, SFP, or SFP+, the system generates console and syslog messages.
By default, only ports that are up are monitored
when optical monitoring is enabled. When the show optic command is
entered for a port that is down, the following message is displayed:
Optical monitoring is not enabled for down Port < port_number>.
If you enable the down-port-enable option, ports that are down are also monitored.
This command is not supported for Link Aggregation Group (LAG) interfaces.
The default is to monitor RUCKUS brand optics. The non-ruckus-optic-enable option enables monitoring of non-RUCKUS optics.
The following example enables optical monitoring on all RUCKUS-qualified optics installed in the device.
device# configure terminal device(config)# optical-monitor
The following example enables optical monitoring on a specific port.
device# configure terminal device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1 device(config-if-e10000-1/1/1)# optical-monitor
