Policy-Based Routing
In this section:
- Policy-Based Routing OverviewPolicy-based routing (PBR) is the process of altering a packet's path based on criteria other than the destination address. PBR allows you to use access control lists (ACLs) and route maps to selectively route an IP packet. The ACLs classify the traffic and the route maps that match on the ACLs set routing attributes for the traffic.
- Route MapsRoute maps enable you to define routing policy for the traffic causing a packet to be forwarded to a predetermined next-hop interface, bypassing the path determined by normal routing.
- Configuration Guidelines for IPv4 PBR
- Configuration Guidelines for IPv6 PBRIPv6 PBR allows you to manually configure how IPv6 packets that match certain criteria can be forwarded instead of following the IPv6 Routing Table Manager (RTM) routes.
