Scaling Considerations

These are the scaling considerations and limitations for the flows and CAM partitions.
  • Each protected VLAN or unprotected VLAN requires one TCAM entry per interface.

Scaling Numbers for Flows

Only a few rules are used by the system to trap or to set QoS for control packets and security features. Up to 3,000 flows are supported. OpenFlow flows are categorized into three types and configured per interface:

  • Layer 2: Only supports Layer 2 fields in match criteria; supports up to 512 flows.
  • Layer 3: Only supports Layer 3 fields in match criteria; supports up to 1,536 IPv4 flows and 768 IPv6 flows.
  • Layer23: Supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 fields in match criteria; supports up to 512 flows.
