Configuring Syslog Rate Limiting

Syslog Rate Limiting allows administrators to control the maximum number of syslog messages a device generates per second. By default, a syslog rate limit of 200 messages per second is applied unless manually changed.
The following task configures the limit of syslog messages to 100 per second, changing it from the default number of 200.
  1. Enter global configuration mode.
    device# configure terminal
  2. Configure the syslog rate limit so that the default number of 200 syslog messages no longer applies.
    device(config)# logging-rate-limit 100

The following example configures the limit of syslog messages to 100 per second.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# logging-rate-limit 100

The following example resets the syslog rate limit to the default value of 200 logs per second.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# no logging-rate-limit
