Configuring 1G Breakout Ports

The following example configures a breakout subport and changes the breakout port speed to 1-Gbps. No reload is required for the new subport speed to take effect.
  1. Enter global configuration mode.
    device# configure terminals
  2. Configure the breakout port.
    device(config)# breakout ethernet 1/2/1

  3. Configure the speed-duplex setting on the breakout subport.
    device(config)# interface ethernet 1/2/1:2
    device(config-if-e10000-1/2/1:2)# speed-duplex 1000-full
    device(config-if-e10000-1/2/1:2)# gig-default neg-off
Note: The RUCKUS ICX 7550-24F, ICX 7550-48F, ICX 7550-24XZP, ICX 7550-24ZP, and ICX 7550-48ZP models require configuring the slot 2 uplink-100g command or the slot 2 uplink-40g command to enable breakout ports.
  4. On the peer device, disable gig-default negotiation.
    peer-device# configure termninal
    peer-device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1
    peer-device (config-if-e10000-1/1/1)# gig-default neg-off

The following example configures a breakout port, changes the speed of breakout subport 2 to 1 Gbps, and configures subport 2 to use the manually configured speed.

Breakout Device:
device# configure terminal
device(config)# breakout ethernet 1/2/1
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/2/1:2
device(config-if-e10000-1/2/1:2)# speed-duplex 1000-full
device(config-if-e10000-1/2/1:2)# gig-default neg-off

Peer Device:
peer-device# configure termninal
peer-device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1
peer-device (config-if-e10000-1/1/1)# gig-default neg-off
