Enabling static IP to MAC address mapping
Based on the client MAC address, you can statically configure the IP address to the
MAC address in the DHCP server.
This configuration is useful when you want to have selected clients assigned with particular IP addresses from the server. Whenever a DHCP discover message is received from these clients, based on the static configuration, the IP address will be assigned with the other required parameters.
When configuring the static-mac-ip-mapping command, there must be
at least two IP addresses available in the ip dhcp-server pool. One of the IP
addresses will be excluded from the ip dhcp-server pool.
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Create a DHCP server pool.
- Enter the
static-mac-ip-mappingcommand followed by the IP address and MAC address for mapping.
