The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache table contains entries that map IP addresses
to Media Access Control (MAC) addresses. There are two types of ARP entries: static
(user-configured) and dynamic (learned).
To display the
ARP cache information, click
Monitor on the left pane and select
ARP Cache.
The
ARP Cache window is displayed as shown in the figure below.

Field
Description
Node
Displays the IP address of the device.
MAC Address
Displays the MAC address of the device.
Type
Displays the type of ARP entry, which can be one of the following:
Dynamic
--The Layer 3 switch learned the entry from an incoming packet.
Static --The Layer 3 switch loaded the entry from the static ARP table when the device for
the entry was connected to the Layer 3 switch.
Age
Displays the number of minutes the entry has remained unused. If this value reaches
the ARP aging period, the entry is removed from the cache.
Note: Static entries do not age out.
Port
Displays the port attached to the device for which the entry was made. For dynamic
entries, this is the port on which the entry was learned.
The port number for
Brocade ICX devices is stack-unit/slotnum/portnum
VLAN ID
Displays the VLAN Identifier of the port, which learned the entry.
