Assigning a Different VLAN ID to Default and Reserved VLANs
You can assign a different VLAN ID to the
default VLAN or to a reserved VLAN. When you enable port-based VLANs, all ports
in the
system are added to the default VLAN. By default, the default VLAN ID is "VLAN 1".
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Assign a different VLAN ID to
the VLAN.
- Assign a different VLAN ID to the default
VLAN.
device(config)# default-vlan-id 4095
Reassigning a different VLAN ID to the default VLAN does not change the properties of the default VLAN, but allows you to use the VLAN ID "1" as a configurable VLAN.
- Assign a different VLAN ID to the default
VLAN.
The following example shows how to assign a VLAN ID to the default VLAN.
device# configure terminal device(config)# default-vlan-id 4095
The following example shows how to assign a VLAN ID to a reserved VLAN.
device(config)# reserved-vlan-map vlan 4092 new-vlan 33 device(config)# write memory device(config)# exit device# reload
