Running a Speed Test

You can run a speed test to check the connectivity of a device to a Wi-Fi point in a certain area. This helps assess network performance and detect any connection issues.

  • To run a speed test from a wireless client to an AP:

    The RUCKUS SpeedFlex application must be installed on the wireless client. This application can be downloaded from Google Play store for Android devices or the Apple devices store for iPhones. The following fields must be configured before performing a speed test:

    • Destination Address
    • Source Address
    • Link
    • Protocol
    • Test Duration
  • To run a speed test between an AP and the controller, perform the following steps:

Note: To run a speed test on an AP, the Test Speed option must be enabled in the Advanced Options of the AP configuration.

  1. From the controller GUI main menu, select Network > Wireless > Access Points.
    The Access Points page is displayed.
  2. Select an AP from the list and then select the Health tab.
  3. Click Test Speed.
    The SpeedFlex Wireless Performance Test page is displayed.
  4. Click Start to test the speed of UDP.
    When the test is complete, the downlink and uplink results are displayed, along with packet loss percentages.
