Sending SNMP Traps and Email Notifications for Events

By default, the controller saves to its database a record of all events that occur. You can configure the controller to also send SNMP traps and email notifications for specific events whenever they occur.
Note: Verify that global SNMP traps are enabled to ensure that the controller can send SNMP traps for events. You can confirm this on the Administration > External Services > SNMP Agent page.

The System hierarchy structure is provided so that you can manage event notifications at the System level (default selection) or on a per-Zone level (select a Zone).

  • Enabling or disabling E-mail notification settings
  • Adding or deleting recipient E-mail addresses
  • Enabling or disabling DB persistence settings
  • Enabling or disabling SNMP trap settings
  1. From the controller GUI main menu, select Monitor > Events & Alarms > Events > Event Management.
This displays the Event Management page with the following information:
    • Email Notification: Click the Enable toggle ON and type an email address or email addresses in the Mail To field. If you want to send notifications to multiple recipients, use a comma without a space to separate the email addresses. Then, click OK.
    • Events: View the table and select the events for which you want to send traps or email notifications (or both). Select one or more specific events by performing a Ctrl + click on them individually, or click More > Select All to select all events at once. Click the Enable drop-down menu and select the desired options from the following:
      • Enable SNMP Notification: Enables SNMP trap notifications for all selected events.
      • Enable Email: Enables email notifications for all selected events.
      • Enable DB Persistence: Enables temporary storage of event logs in the system database. Data is retained for up to 7 days before being purged, after which new events overwrite the old data.
Note: It is recommended to always enable DB Persistence to ensure short-term retention of event logs within the system.
In the Events table, the following information related to the event is displayed:
    • Code: Displays the event code.
    • Severity: Displays the severity of the event such as Information, Minor and so on.
    • Category: Displays the category under which the event falls under, such as AP communication.
    • Type: Displays the event type such as AP managed, Ap rejected and so on.
    • Zone Override: Displays whether the settings for this event are overriding the System level settings.
    • SNMP Notification: Displays whether SNMP trap notifications are enabled.
    • Email: Displays whether email notifications are enabled.
    • DB Persistence: Displays whether the event is saved to the controller database.
    • OID: Displays the unique object identifier for the event.
    • Description: Displays a brief description of the event trigger.
